The OMEGA Speedmaster "First Omega in Space" 311. pays homage to astronaut Wally Shirra's historic mission in 1962 during the "Sigma 7" orbit. This numbered edition captures the essence of that iconic timepiece and comes with the complete box set.

The watch boasts a bold varnished black dial featuring a small seconds dial, a 30-minute recorder, a 12-hour recorder, a central chronograph hand, and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Its 39.7 mm stainless steel case with symmetric lugs hosts a black bezel with a tachymetric scale. The ensemble is elegantly presented on a brown leather strap.

Turning the watch reveals a screw-down case back with a polished embossed Hippocampus (Sea-horse) at the center of a waffle pattern. The back is further engraved with “The First Omega In Space” and the date of the historic mission, October 3, 1962. The polished edge bears the unique edition number.

The Hippocampus symbolizes Neptune, the God of the sea, and was conceived by Pierre Borie. It reflects Neptune riding a chariot pulled by seahorses. The manually wound Omega Caliber 1861, with 18 jewels and beating at 21,600 beats per hour, lies within. As a direct descendant of the original moon watch, which used the Caliber 361 movement, the Caliber 1861 maintains the legacy. This remarkable timepiece is available now at MVS Watches in immaculate condition, complete with free UK delivery.
